Adding another sound input at macbook 6.1?

hello, have macbook 6.1 unfortunately have 1 line input , output @ same time.

problem want connect electric guitar, after i'm limited internal speaker since have no other way plug other speakers guitar using line in/out.

there cheap way add audio jack?

have seen usb audio jack cables around, have no idea if gonna work since there no software mentioned them, , seems short of impossible system recognize cable line in/out.

external audio card choice?

in advance.

i'm not aware single cheap (and not sure "cheap" means in greece ;-) cable want. however, there cheap usb interfaces work in fashion. behringer uca222, example:

http://www.behringer.com/en/products/uca222.aspx

available $35 in , supports os x. problem inputs line level , guitar outputs signal @ lower level , impedance. if 1/4" phono rca patch cable connect guitar uca222 input, "work" you'll have turn uca222 gain way (often resulting in hiss) , impedance mismatch means guitar pickups won't sound same. avoid this, you'd need external preamp. *will* work without 1 if don't mind compromises.

if sound quality important, not mention hassle free plug-and-play install, i'd @ m-audio fast track or presonus audiobox usb, available around $120-150 in us.
