Same model drive swap?

this question may out in left field i'll give go: we've got 2 same-model 13-inch macbook pros in house , wondering if remove each drive , swap them other machine. start normal if same machines different bodies, or drives formatted each specific machine, not model? can't seem find example of while searching archives. in advance.

 

it work, long os 1 mac has version other mac came or later.
