Macbook Pro Wifi Signal

i new macbook owner , have been having problems wifi connection. have no problems when near router when little further away can not connection. thought distance causing friend had laptop (a lower end dell) @ house , getting great connection in areas macbook not connect @ all. has had problem , if there way boost connection or fix this? open suggestions, moving router not option.

are using 5ghz on macbook?

5ghz doesn't go through obstacles @ all. don't think of dell gear supports 5ghz, using 2.4ghz (i assuming have dual band wifi access point airport extreme here).


5ghz gives great speed, @ close range.
