hi guys,
new imac on it's way me , it's coming os x lion. upset me greatly. first desktop , i've had laptop running snow leopard want clone laptop hard drive new imac. i've read online downgrading imac lion sl seems mixed response... people haven't had problems, other people claim have problems adobe software or fcp x. i've found 3 ways can done.
1) make backup using time machine on snow leopard laptop running 10.6.8 , recent updates. reboot imac running lion , hold down opt key , boot recovery hd. here can select restore time machine backup , voila.
2) insert snow leopard 2011 installation disc, reboot imac holding c button, select disk utility, wipe startup disk , install sl disc.
3) setup partition on hard drive , install snow leopard , keep original lion partition.
has done latest imacs? apple retail assistant bought imac said it's impossible downgrade latest imac's hardware won't allow it... surely it's software thing , nothing hardware?
sorry rant hoping vote on community thinks best method.
the drivers new hardware aren't included 10.6 since computer didn't exist @ time. os not able interface different components.
