My experience with Lion

first off, although regular forum reader, haven't posted on macrumors in long time. however, felt appropriate me share thoughts on lion, have been extensively using work , school.

lion review:

system: mid-2010 macbook pro 13. 8 gb of ram (upgraded after installing lion because of slow system response). else stock.

good:
1) graphics: 10.7.3 fixed lot of graphical 'hangs' associated lion. bugs still present, part, spinning beach balls gone.

2) multi-touch: far best part lion. gestures amazing (when responsive) , have meshed workflow. feel more productive on system did on snow leopard (once again, when responsive).

3) word auto-correct. write memo's living. auto-correct typing feature has been god-send. amount of time saved feature alone more worth $30 lion costs.

4) icloud. ability sync everything, everywhere, without messing settings fantastic.

bad:
1) graphical hangs. lion still feels immature compared snow leopard, after 10.7.3. i'm not sure if these problems isolated nvidia 320m, show stopper. 320m seems overloaded after extended use, causing launchpad, mission control, , full screen apps hang or crash. plugging system external display seems exacerbate problem. after switching between internal , external display, system requires restart behave again. comparison, on snow leopard, system required once month. hope these issues resolved soon.

2) memory use. had upgrade 8 gb of memory in order make lion run smooth on computer. before upgrade, 4 gb of ram consumed running text edit, safari, , itunes. disk-swap , page-outs unacceptable such light system load. believe of these issues have been resolved in 10.7.3, still… why lion memory demanding?

3) persistent bugs. several bugs, present in snow leopard, still unresolved. example: when adding program, why restart required before icon displayed correctly in application stack (on dock)?

4) restart resume. want turn feature off, system wide, there no option it. every time restart computer, don't want uncheck little box. understand useful feature if have ssd, don't. small gripe, irritating.

conclusion.
first off, lion great, more advanced system sl.

in sum, it's potential fantastic, still rough around edges. if graphical bugs , memory usage resolved, 99% of complaints vanish. here's hoping 10.7.4 resolves these issues.
