we have owned apple tv 2nd generation year , half. first year pretty successful although lately have had major issues streaming of hd movies rented apple tv. download movies , load , stream , play within 1 minute, (but not always) take forever load , watch. dialogue says "your movie ready watch in 2 hours , 45 minutes"...or 7 hours! loads enough play 20 minutes stops , freezes while streaming catches again 10 min later. frustrating!!! have been updating updates come out. using hdmi big plasma , have fast wireless connection. can watch trailers no problem though. on broadband connection speed of 18 mbps or 2.3 megabytes per second speed should not issue. thinking apple's servers cannot keep demand apple tv's selling!! son lives in same area has had issues , son in law has been hugely frustrated on friday night's when sitting down watch movie ...for charged regardless!!!! out there ideas? haven't tried using ethernet cable yet though next step....

i have purchased atv2. netflix etc works fine. slowness kicks in , freezing happens when stream movies ipad. mirroring works fine. cisco router on 2nd floor , atv on first. may bridge extender , ethernet atv should help. btw few people in forum found dont respond tech questions.
