First ipad. Do I get a screen protector in addition to the case

first ipad. people protection? apple smart cover. make sense screen protector underneath smart cover? or redundant?

 

a lot of people tell it's overkill, in opinion, $10 screen protector worth since takes 1 small scratch ruin $499+ retina display.
