Can't upgrade to ios 5.0.1

i have ipad 2 ios 4.3.5. want update 5.0.1 can jailbreak when possible, can't.. hit update, starts working , says "the network connection has timed out", internet works perfectly.. should do?

how mac (or pc) connect internet? ios 5.x package quite large - if connecting on wi-fi, can try connecting router physically (via network cable)?
