13" MBA or 15" MBP for developer

hello everyone. first post on here, hate me asking something, is.

i'm windows-only user, , have been past 2 years, want purchase first mac. worked on them @ job held in college couple years, haven't touched them since. both brother , friend have purchased 15" mbps, , 1 of them got tb display. friend uses his machine outside of work, understand possible need beefier system, brother has gaming rig uses task , storing data.

come in closer brother; have gaming rig don't think willing let go of unless gave gaming altogether, , houses 15tb of media i'm not willing let go of either. if make clean break jump on mbp, seeing using laptop development (java, python, ruby, mysql, ios, javascript, html5/css, etc) , other non-gaming tasks, i'm not sure if it's overkill invest in mbp. i've decided if go mbp have higher res screen, , install 256gb ssd & 8gb of ram myself, adds @ least $500onto price. tasks have, lacking ram , lack of dedicated gpu going affect me? think take macbook everywhere whether collaborate or out of house, @ same time lug around decently heavy 15" dell laptop , work every day, , don't find cumbersome.

2 side notes:
1. i'm use developing on 3 1080p monitors @ work , 2 @ home, i'm concerned developing on macbook take getting use to. of features in osx though. may end doing brother , getting tb screen down road, don't plan on doing initially.
2. plan on selling laptop when new model comes out upgrade. major upgrades on pc every 5 years, , minor ones every year or two, have system sharp, there isn't of market used pc parts. personal experience seem reasonable thing do? idea being put $1700 dollars down initially, , lose $300 or year each time sell , upgrade on time typically match total buy-in price of selling 3-5 year old macbook upgrade. i'm curious people's experience this, though isn't related question @ hand.

sorry going on bit of tangent, want people's opinions of should get. if you're developer, love hear recommend , use.

thanks!

either machine fast enough development. if you're going using laptop 15" high res screen easier live with. if you're going plugging external monitor either machine fine.

either way check out macrumors buyers guide. supposedly there new mbp's coming out soon. if rumors right , new, lighter 15" mbp coming out in april make sense wait few weeks. might have better screen. knows.

reference point, develop on linux box multiple screens @ work. @ home use c2d 13" mbp 24" monitor. on linux having multiple screens nice, on mac prefer having 1 large screen. has how far mouse pointer has travel things done on respective systems. saying might find developing on multiple screens on mac not same you're used to.

mbp came 4gig , no dedicated gpu. , fine. reason put 4 gig run multiple vm's. 4gig no gpu development(depending on kind of development do) fine. 8 gig can't hurt, might not necessary.
