OS X Rootkit Hunter warnings.


i got following warning when running rootkit hunter. bit of goole searching led me believe nothing thought check on here.


checking if ssh protocol v1 allowed [ warning ]
ssh configuration option 'protocol' has not been set.


checking if syslog remote logging allowed [ warning ]
syslog configuration file allows remote logging: install.* @127.0.0.1:32376


performing filesystem checks
checking /dev suspicious file types [ warning ]
suspicious file types found in /dev:
/dev/fd/6: ms windows icon resource
/dev/fd/7: ms windows icon resource
checking hidden files , directories [ warning ]
hidden file found: /usr/share/man/man5/.rhosts.5: troff or preprocessor input text

oh, heaven's sakes. why run utility designed unearth threats not subject of rumors? serious problem found have 2 ms windows icon resources. these pose absolutely no threat , can absolutely nothing either or bad on computer.

advice is ditch rootkit hunter. far can tell, little project appears more devoted showing can run on unix , unix-like systems protecting these systems real threats. believe me--if ever there rootkit issue on mac, hear long before infected it. absent real threat, running crap rootkit hunter being frightened ghost stories wrote.
