How do I end current call and answer an incoming call?

my apology such basic question.

went feature phone (dumb phone) iphone4s , learning how basics.

1 problem came several times , i’m sure it’s me needing learn how make phone want do.

make call joe. joe’s voice mail. i’m leaving joe voice mail joe calls me back.

on screen have 2 options "ignore" or "hold call + answer".
want end current call , answer.
carrier verizon.

know how this?

hold call , answer. voicemail disconnect call.
