Open up ports on Time Capsule

i have time capsule connected dsl modem. trying remote desktop mac on network either iphone or laptop, outside of network. works great on local network, can't connect outside. manuals need open ports 5900 , 3283, thought did, websites check ports still closed. i'm sure messed ports or ip. can give me directions on doing this? thanks!
