i'm going explain situation.
ipod touch homebutton broken , can't use (close apps etc).
heard jailbreak , use activator simulate homebutton pressing volume or gestures decide jailbreak use it.
bad luck, it's needed enter in "dfu mode" , enter need use homebutton doesn't work.
searching in web found way enter in dfu loop modifying/replacing in files in firmware , seemed work, itunes shows error when finished installing modified firmware , ipod stayed in dfu mode , jailbreak it,(but @ step, ipod kept in dfu mode permanently,so didn't turn on after jailbreak installation) have boot redsnow latest version , wow, turned on! downloaded activador , thought jailbreak had saved life working , being able close apps without homebutton, left while , 20 minutes later wanted turn on power button , wasn't working, connect computer , detected itunes saying must restore it.
tried restore , showed error #1601 , it's dead, windows , itunes still detects can't nothing, it's in permanently dfu mode.

have tried re-jailbreaking? jailbreak tethered/untethered?
also, itunes doesn't appreciate jailbroken devices , ask restore.. time doesn't will.
