my ssd has slowed way down

i've got 1 year old ocz vertex 2 in late 2007 macbook pro. i've got sata know speeds limited, ssd still pretty fast when first got it. since installed lion in august, has become extremely slow, if majorly wrong. have original magnetic drive in optical bay, , keep of stuff, vertex 2 os , apps, , 20gb used out of 60. using encryption on drive, problem?

there have been no significant reports of ssd slowdown in forum can recall. interested see if other reports begin show these starting larger use , average age beginning increase. particularly way have shown benchmarks new , old. there traction on thread...
