iPad to HDTV without AirPlay Or apple tv

so i'm of newb @ there way stream or use wire watch things on hdtv ipad without having purchase apple tv? there cable can ? maybe 30 pin cable hdmi? exist? or in general there method? i'd love watch hbo go example on larger screen.
