i looking put windows on mac, able boot natively in boot camp when need work on project or play game, able fire internet explorer testing while in os x using vmware fusion 4.
on 2011 macbook pro running mac os x lion, 500 gb hard drive, , 16 gb of ram.
best configuration doing this? not looking use windows more testing, loading 3d software , game or two. question have are:
1) how hard drive space should give boot camp partition?
2) there special need windows activate right on both boot camp partition, , in vmware fusion 4?
3) how ram should assign in vmware vm run smoothly?
other tips on appreciated.
1) as think you'll need/can spare. 1tb hard drive has 200gb partition boot camp, , have 30-50% of filled (a couple of games plus ms office , adobe cs programs).
2) process same installing on pc (with exception of boot camp assistant burning cd drivers), aware switching vm boot camp means have re-authenticate copy of windows. if assign vm half processor cores , fraction of ram, notice when boot directly windows , has access full system resources. thinks stuck old hard drive different computer.
3) xp it's easy decide how ram allocate vm, because 32-bit couldn't use more 3-4gb anyway. win7, i'd can't go wrong 8gb. if you're worried taking away mac side, try 4gb. that's plenty purposes, if need in way of gaming you'll booting in boot camp anyway.
should it. fusion 3 has never given me grief.
