using imovie hd far, giving fcpx try. i'm in midst of trial period, , have these beginners questions:
1. trial version offers benefits of full version, or there limitation it? (ex: 'general' warning - not referring trial limitation expect - changes not preserved, , better quit program)
2. since old vhs tapes professionally transferred 'in 1 batch' dv tapes imported in fcpx camera, event , project library show these tapes long clips (duration 30 45 min).
what's best/easiest/quickest way 'split' them up, camera's on importing changing scenes?
3. in various 'color correction' tools, miss - or did not discovered yet - way correct wrong white balance settings.
there whole tape in 'night' setting instead of 'daylight' (which in time not noticed on elder b/w camera monitor), there way turn night day , rid of odd purple color cast?
if not, recommend use fcpx's own correction settings (color board, presets) best? (it's pity turn movie b/w, sepia, or whatever...)
swift & advise, before trial period expires (still 17 days go) make day! http://cdn.macrumors.com/vb/images/smilies/wink.gif
2. can preview footage within event browser , set in (i) , out (o) points clips you'd bring project.
should check out "create camera archive" function within import tool. lets capture footage tape , treat files if digital files on memory card. can cutting , decide clips you'd bring event right in import tool, without having cluttered event browser.
option preview footage in event browser, set in , out points clips or divide up, , hit f favorite. arrange clips "favorites" group can view.
may have misunderstood question entirely if didn't, i'd recommend camera archive option. makes pretty nice workflow when working ole tapes.
best of luck
