the gtx 285 pretty hot-running card. fully-buffered ram in 2006-08 mac pros runs quite bit hotter unbuffered ram used 2009-10 mac pros. i'd it's graphics card.
if you're worried level of heat exhaust , want retain similar performance, swap card out ati card (5770/5870/6870 name few), you'd no longer have cuda support (assuming need it).
