Why does AAPL seem to focus on one segment and not both?

for wondering why aapl seems foregoing os x there more focus on ios/idevice/consumer market, have wonder:

why have 1 or other?

aapl made deal of money when jobs returned. next/os x, powermac's, excellent ccfl lcd (more 1 stripped down 27" led lcd imac panel?! no way! /sarcasm) , catered great deal professional market, creative or otherwise.

jobs bought "shake," discontinued while announcing room of studio professionals opinion no longer warranted. years went w/ jobs running aapl, cutting out accessory products , focusing on desktops , ipod. profits built strong cash reserve fed r&d projects such ipad (which came first around 2004 before iphone in 2007) , iphone in '07 exploded aapl new market. new iphone owners got taste of aapl , macbook's took off (mostly students) , imac's. os x began taking backseat ios, power systems such powermac g5 replaced intel switch in 2006, tacking on $1k in xeon based work stations resulting in businesses holding off on hardware upgrades due cost. 3 ccfl lcd's cut, , years weren't updated until stripped down 24" imac led lcd panel , 27" imac panel (most cost effectiveness). xserve dropped, lion begins bridge of ios/os x gui , opengl support still lagging - go on. points aapl ditching professional grade systems cater consumer (mobile) market (apple computers switched apple electronics, inc.).

with $80+ billion in cash, why have consumer market or professional "power" market? why can't aapl revamp professional market did consumer market? working in communications, quantity of businesses may not compare quantity of consumers, when 1 business (studio houses, photographers used aapl displays powermac's required little/no configuring spyder's, etc) has $50k, $100k or more on updates software licenses , hardware, adds quite bit.

have used mac's since 2002, decade fall, , still use windows isn't bad os (ms needs code system myriad of hardware combinations , third party drivers nightmare, i'm surprised works does). i'm on fifth mac (2010 mac pro), 2x 24" led lcd's. not work done on system, esp given training require. if aapl continues in direction, work , life further impacted in struggling economy. frightens of depend on os x our livelihood.

-----------

i'm genuinely interested in opinions (mostly interested in professionals make living on os x based desktops). realize has been discussed on mr's, , avoid unproductive/mean-spirited comments, please, if interested in topic let's keep civil :)

question, believe aapl foregoing professional products , if so, why can't aapl produce in both consumer , professional markets?

i've heard apple referred 90/90 company. apple caters 90% of users need 90% of product can do. fact has become more , more apparent in past couple of years , continue manifest move forward.

personally, think apple thinking years future , sees computing performed on mobile devices. is, workstation/desktop/laptop computing become thing of distant past. in fact, we're seeing lines of computer continues blur. see apple setting company lead way mobile computing, kind of mobile computing saw in science fiction.

think apple has abandoned professional market? not entirely. apple aware professionals use products. think apple's strategy consumerize professional market , more streamline product offering. i'm sure apple still offer powerful desktops in future, it's way ios apps can developed right? both mainstream , mobile devices become more compact , powerful in future, less we'll see behemoth systems mac pro apple , more integrated systems imacs, macbook airs, , ipads.

have stake in myself. background in photography , love have powerful system afford hands on. have loved have gotten mac pro when purchased last mac because of budgetary issues, made compromises , purchased imac. imac, 2011 27" bto imac cpu , gpu specs maxed out through apple, plenty fast needs. , price of mac pro built way have wanted it, have been able buy 2 of imacs bought , entry level macbook pro. as love imac , know future imacs more powerful 1 day, hope apple not away mac pro , keeps system around users need , more willing pay premium one.
