looking advise
when turned on machine today , white screen apple logo came up, instead of normal spinning icon there progress bar displayed , machine took 2 minutes start. when machine started slow , spotlight had index hdd. there significant screen tearing when moving mouse on dock. shutdown day before (i selected shutdown apple menu). there no updates installed when machine shutdown night before.
when restarted machine appears normal, except spotlight had index hdd. 1 new mac sign of hdd problems or else's. the machine bought less 3 weeks ago. there kind of diagnostic utility can run?

27 inch imac (mid 2011)
core i5
12 ram
radeon 6970 1gb ram
lion 10.7.3
probably os running repair - did happen again on next boot?
