i encountered interesting today time machine. i'm using synology 212j nas time machine backups 3 macs; imac, mbp, , mba.
today mbp began backup usual instead of backing few hundred mbs began backup entire hard drive of 52gb of data.
checked backup folder on nas , .sparsebundle mbp gone! ran daisydisk on folder location , found 2 .sparsebundles imac , mba.
what's deal? kinda defeats purpose of backing up, never know when .sparsebundles disappear.
update: imac , mba both performed backups fine, 300mbs each. checked nas capacity , theres 85% of free space space isn't issue.
sparse bundle fix
garth gillespie posted fix addressing sparse bundle errors, assumes caught message time machine couldn't complete backup , wanted new backup.

make sure have 10.7.3 supplemental update time machine. luck on tracking down culprit.
