recently, picked 2011 27" imac 3.1ghz replace aging 2007 macbook pro 2.2. ran mbp desktop years. of course, 120gb standard internal not enough growing itunes library. ended moving external drive. after several lost libraries, got external drive keep metadata , not. prevent heartache altogether time.
used migration assistant move setting on imac. now, recognizes external drive it's itunes library, , has kept various other data.
