Loose dock connection or is this normal?

hi, bought docking alarm clock use ipod touch 3g. clock xtrememac luna voyager. problem i'm having ipod won't make electrical connection clock's dock connector unless push down hard on ipod. letting go breaks connection, , wiggling ipod break connection. removed touch's case, didn't make difference.

compare, docked nano 6g clock, , works fine. in fact, makes connection when nano gets 2/3 of way down onto connector. seems lot more solid when perched on connector touch, i'm not sure if that's due merely touch's greater weight , leverage.

there no problems getting connection when plugging usb dock connector cable touch, , there no connection problems older xtrememac luna clock have. examined dock connector on clock , seems fine; length of blade same 1 on usb cable.

can't tell if ipod's dock connector loose because wrong, if it's loose functioning specifications model ipod, or if connector fine funky clock's dock connector. have thoughts on this? how tight should model ipod when docked? how far down must pressed before make electrical connection?

thanks!
