have been trying ages buy fw800 enclosure external hdd.
have not found cheap one, going sata dock.
have found second hand shop selling fw800 enclosure, complete used 2tb drive.

not sure if should buy it, bin old hdd , fit new hdd. or there way test age/reliability of old hdd?

finding age easy. every drive has date code printed on it. open , look. reliabilty? there no way know. i'd is working sign. drives either fail or last long time , know 1 did not fail early. figure on 5 years of life on average varies wildly
buy used drive if price 1/2 or less of new drive.
