iphone and mail - one happy family?

is there way "sync" mail , iphone if read email iphone, no longer show new on macbook's mail?

example.... if i'm @ work , read emails receive during day, don't want come home, open macbook , have sift through them on again since i've read them.

how set up?

 

you need set mail using imap accounts
