FCP X loss of one audio channel

i've run fcp x (or camcorder) problem has me baffled. maybe can me understand.

i'm shooting canon xa10. 2 mikes coming xlr connectors, , xa10 set place each on own track.

shooting rehearsal performance, , whenever looked @ xa10 audio display noticed nothing unusual. each channel had activity.

when brought clips fcp x (the .3 version) clips 1 had 2 separate audio channels, expected.

fcp x displayed each channel "mono (channel-1)" or "mono (channel-2)," expected.

1 clip has 1 channel, , channel's marked "<clip name> -a1."

clip before has 2 channels, , clip after has 2 channels. time between clips matter of seconds.

if after one-channel clip stayed one-channel, i'd looking did, or failed somewhere along line. after (and on other days, same mikes) fine; proper 2 channels.

grabbed clipwrap trial , converted directly .mts file, in case fcp x had somehow hiccuped on import. no difference -- still 1 channel.

haven't simulated accidental mike disconnect (or level-set-to-zero) see fcp x blank audio channel. did re-import clip, making sure "remove silent channels" setting wasn't ticked. no difference.

i'll more testing mikes , xa10, have no memory of making level or connector changes before next clip, which, i've said, fine. if did can't remember doing, undid , can't remember doing either. seems unlikely me.

performance in few days , i'd more relaxed shooting if had idea went wrong on 1 clip on no other.

ideas?

all can think of 1 of mics experienced connection issue during clip , didn't record audio. if paused recording during shoot started recording again when mic stopped working, audio lost. may or may not when i'm filming , going it's supposed to, don't stop recording, can choose not use footage can't go , grab lost.
