R.I.P. Optiarc A7170-A. You sucked.

i'm sad (or don't care @ tbh) announce death of oem optiarc superdrive came mac pro 1,1. damn thing never worked fine, thought i'd share story rest.

actually, lied. did work fine first few months had it. didn't use anyway, os installations. after year or started having problems when burning. discs not verify after burning , if did stopped functioning within days. tested many brands too. after point of not using @ burning, once found couldn't burn dvds anymore. see blank, try use burn, give error. made blank useless too. same thing started happening cds. today, started not mount original cd/dvd. tried old tiger dvd. either throws out or keeps trying ever. noticed started scratch discs :o pulled out, cleaned thoroughly , tried bunch of other firmwares, staying updated oem firmware, 1.nc.

long story short dude died , never made me proud while alive yeah.. guess i'll blu-ray drive sooner thought.

disc media dead in general. don't think i've inserted disc in computer last 3 years, except os install discs.
