Superdrive to SSD Replacement

hello everyone!

upon upgrading lion past week, noticed superdrive no longer accepts discs. discs can inserted halfway slot, , no further. it's of there disc in drive, when know there not. drive appears under disk utility , under system profiler, know must hardware problem.

however, wondering if had switched out optical drive bay ssd adapter offered on owc's website, , if there noticeable improvements in system performance/extra drain on battery life/etc.

i'm curious hear peoples' experiences before decide whether put in superdrive or ssd.
