i ordered complete 3gs cover assembly replace old 1 had bejesus beaten , scratched out of it.
swapped board , screen over, plugged wall charger , got empty battery screen (battery icon, red line). thought normal considering new battery left overnight charge woke in morning find still stuck in same state. googled problem, searched board , tried list of solutions (hard resets, holding home button down when plugging in etc) still had no luck.
able dfu mode decided restore ios 4.0. @ point, screen booted up, showed apple logo , restore status bar, restore process completed way when itunes says phone reboot. got point , went straight charging screen again??
tried "fix recovery" option on tinyumbrella see if cause response, did - screen came life, whole lot of command line scripts ran , when completed went straight charging screen again.
else had experience problem? bad battery or software related issue?
p.s. - swap parts including battery on old assembly new cover i've used parts in 3gs i've sold.
tinyumbrella's fix recovery works on iphone 4. other idevices, use exit recovery.
got bad battery or didn't reconnect when putting phone together.
