iphone headphone sound problem, please help me :(

hello everyone,
got new iphone 3g yesterday. tried listen music headphone volume doesn't work first half of blue volume bar doesn't change sound @ all! stays @ same volume whole first part of it! , when try make louder, sound getting weird, muffles or , hardly hear singers voice. music okay when it's on maximum or minimum :/ music intact when headphone out, sounds weird tried several headphones , it's same problem of them please me, i'm kind of noob when comes iphones (cuz never had iphone or smartphone before ^^'')
