FCP7 - simple Canvas question

i feel moron asking this, it's been year since touched fcp. when grab subclip in time line , drag on play head (physically moving clip) there anyway set canvas show frame frame of what's passing under playhead or 2 black boxes show up.

feel use have set way? said it's been while , took break mess other editing programs maybe i'm mixing memories up. love know sure! info!

 

what using arrowright , arrowleft?
