i'm using windows 7 work related programs , gaming. i've noticed when check properties on program files folder , program files folder (x86) in there seems have "read only" attribute associated it. when installed steam in there, read , did not work. consequently had move outside of program file folder top level of c file working.
have work related program seems unhappy "read only" status of folder. clarify "read only" attribute highlighted blue. not have check mark.
kicker when try change these folders , of files "read", ie remove "read only" attribute, first tells me need administrator (which am), go through steps, windows seems cycle through files , "read attribute" goes away long keep window open. if close , reopen it, "read only" status still there.
should these folders full of "read only" files? i'm thinking no because how programs able update in them?
