i needed free multi-person videoconferencing app, downloaded thing called oovoo. in order use oovoo, must install java:
http://www.oovoo.com/lp/mac_lion_advisory.html
went through , downloaded , installed successfully. question - happened, , did necessary? i.e., in java preferences, under utilities, if had checked "enable applet plug-in..." box, have been prompted install java @ all? , if not, did "extra" java installed go? because don't see different anywhere.
i'm confused. being windows user of life made me obsessive keeping system clean , clutter-free (not easy feat on windows sometimes). love thing , i'm paranoid becoming cluttered turd little bit uneasy when gets installed , don't know went. insight helpful, tia.
open terminal , type "java -version." following:
code:
*** $ java -version java version "1.6.0_29" java(tm) se runtime environment (build 1.6.0_29-b11-402-11m3527) java hotspot(tm) 64-bit server vm (build 20.4-b02-402, mixed mode) *** $
if see this, installed java. if go applications -> utilities, find called "java preferences." should contain further information java installation.
don't worry, it's not gonna hurt or mac
