MacMini Memory Issues

i have mid 2010 mac mini, supports 8gb ram. whenever put 8gb in computer, wont boot. more specifically, beeps. i've tried following:

error occurs when there 2 slots of memory in computer. take higher level memory chip out, , boots fine. i've swapped chip other 4gb chip, , works. issue wont accept 2 chips @ once. through trial/error, i've determined both chips work.

mac faulty or doing wrong? warranty expired advice appreciated.

 

every mac i've ever used had trouble ram when not using factory matched pairs. issue..
