iPad screen durability

hi, pre-ordered new ipad, first ipad!

own , iphone 4, , had screen protector on until apple store guy told me glass on iphones scratch resistant, , safe case had lip on edge keep surface elevated.

pretty correct, because damage iphone has encountered in 8 months mystery chip (honestly have no idea how happened, got on it) , recent hair line scratch isn't noticeable @ all.

i'm assuming ipad glass same iphone, make pretty durable.

i've seen few comments in threads dust smart covers causing scratches on people's ipad screens?

i'm wondering how is, because want buy screen protector (particularly ultra optics spigen: http://www.spigen.com/tablets/apple...g-wifi-screen-protector-steinheil-series.html) i'd rather wait reviews see how fits snap on covers, because i'm sort of person absolutely cannot handle bubbles in screen protectors!

don't want smart cover scratching glass before can hands on decent screen protector.

although apple don't delare iphone 4 , ipad screens made gorilla glass. gorilla glass extremely scratch resistant. process makes gorilla glassy makes touch, thin protective layer. these screens although scratch restistant unbelievable levels, vunerable dings.. if struck (hard) hard , pointy chip...

have been using ipad2 year (nearly) , iphone 4 year , 3/4. keep thr iphone in hard leather slip case , have smart cover thr ipad. ipad smart cover genious one... have had both plastic , leather ones, , leather 1 ( expensive ) lot better plastic one...

have couple of tiny dings on iphone when slipped off car seat , slid done life of seat.... ipad screen spotless after years heavy use. use daily , carry time in satchel-bag....

recommend gelaskins protective skin of ipad. put 1 on mine , stops getting scratched without adding bulk @ all...

hope enjoy ipad as have been enjoying mine...

i don't think screen protector necessary, in fact, think might make screen little less dynamic use.

ipad screen has layer of on makes fingerprints easy wipe off..

whatever careful not use screen cleaner has alcohol in it, if will wreck coatings on screen...( in fact apple should't use anything, have found useful care) .....my mother started use screen cleaner sold amazon ipad , has slight swirl on screen (very minor) have been worse if hadn't intervened , stopped in nick of time......
