How can I Copy 35mm colour slides to iPad

apologies if incorrect forum.
have old 35mm colour slides want onto ipad.
first copied them onto pc .jpg pictures.
copied them canon ixus 70 4gb memory sd card, after reformatting card in camera.
pictures on card show excellent on pc, however, camera tells me there no images.
shows "no images" when insert card ipad via ipad card reader.
advice how can these pictures ipad please, or can redirect me forum?

 

if use dropbox can upload them pc dropbox , download dropbox ipad. if not user set free 2 gig account , transfer many @ time can, delete , repeat. pc , ipad apps free. if use icloud photostream option or transfer via itunes sync.
