Multi-tasking gesture or double button push restarts device. Plus bonus problem!

neat! 1 of few times comes mind ipad doing uncool , i've no idea how fix it. actually, type that, i'm reminded of else , i'll jump in moment.

first off, i've no idea how or why started, when try go multi-tasking bar either doing five-finger swipe up, or double tapping home button, restarting device (or maybe springboard, if makes difference).

when either of these things, instead of frame lifting , revealing "previously run apps , other stuff bar" cuts black screen white wheel, , brings me lock screen unlock device.

have ipad 2 not jailbroken. know try far turn off device , turn on. that… didn't work. has heard of happening before, or have ideas short of doing bothersome restore?

*** other problem reminded of in writing first 2 sentences. doubt related , weird itunes account.
itunes account seems backed past purchases/downloads , i've no idea issue is. past week or so, time i've started download new app, gives me message "unable purchase. 'google' [an app i've downloaded , sits on device] , 25 other items not purchased @ time. please try again later."
press "ok" on this, , new app downloads fine. couple of apps did tell me "item being modified. please try downloading again later" when tried download them later downloaded fine appearing on springboard attempting download again , saying "waiting…" adjust later downloaded appearance.

so, after writing of out, i'm thinking… apple store genius appointment time? thought might more fruitful , productive post here first plenty of other smart people can give hint or two. :) thank feedback.

try soft reset: hold both power , home button.you see screen present "slide power off" screen, keep holding 2 buttons. you'll see screen turn off. keep holding buttons until see white apple logo in middle of screen.

if doesn't fix problem, uncheck "sync apps" in itunes, sync ipad, recheck "sync apps", , resync.

if problem persists, try googling how ipad dfu mode, , perform restore new. when completes, make sure select "set new", not backup. make sure both in itunes , on device.
