Mid 2009 Mac Book Pro Memory Questions

i have mid 2009 pro 2.26 2gb of memory. running lion @ moment , bit slow!!

wired 533.4mb page in's 1.97gb
active 981.2mb page out's 11.3mb
inactive 448.4mb swap used 32mb
used 1.92gb

think increasing unit 8gb make faster??

 

4 gb might suffice.
