I tried Handbrake on my Ibook 15" just for kicks!

bored 1 evening , wanted see how long take convert dvd handbrake.

primary machine ibook g4 14" 1.42ghz w/ 1.5gb ram running leopard on 250gb 5400rpm hdd.

108min dvd estimated 10-10:30 hours convert!!! turned off after 30 min.

how did live then??

ripping cd's isn't bad though.

thought i'd share w other powerpc book users.

that's nothing. used advanced x264 codecs on avidemux motion compensated deinterlacing set @ around 800kbps 5minute long files @ 720x480. average time around 16 hours on g5 imac.

can't imagine time if tried using tempgaussmc , 1080p resolution files. lynnfield imac quotes estimated time @ multiple days 5minute files. g5 imac? guess it's thing never able use avisynth on it, otherwise have nuked such task.
