elp with Hard Drive . . . Continuing bafflement

i'm having severe problems ipod , hoping can help. i've done far. setup computer capable of running itunes. has 1 usb port, however, bought hub, connected port, , connected seagate goflex 500gb external drive , ipod classic hub.

first, followed instructions @ apple. when tried move media folder recycle bin, found had no itunes media folder -- had folder called "itunes music". tried moving recycle bin, , computer said recycle bin wasn't large enough. moved folder , renamed it.

started itunes again, , had no music. saw message in window said itunes music in "home" folder , selected it. itunes populated music on c again, , couldn't find on seagate. using windows explorer found , played file on seagate, music on external hard drive.

followed these steps on advice in forum

1) on seagate, created folder called "itunes". inside folder, created folder , name "itunes media".

2) in itunes edit menu>prefs->advanced, set "itunes media folder location" "itunes media" folder on seagate. selected "keep itunes media folder organized" , "copy files itunes media folder..." preferences.

3) hit itunes file menu->library->organize library->consolidate files.

when tried sync ipod, had messages saying there 120 files unknown error 124. message said not sync owners ipo because unknown error occurred. third message said 100 files not found. meanwhile ipod dinging on , off church bells. ejected ipod , said "no music."

so, following advice on forum, re-registered dlls through .bat extension. restored ipod.

tried syncing, entire music library seagate. popup windows toolbar said windows not delayed write f/system volume information /pctefadata/pctefa.db , data has been lost. itunes said files not found. said not access ipod because had insufficient privileges. tried adding files on f library using file menu, said system volume information not found. can still access music files on f through windows explorer.

don't know now. maybe should have ipod license revoked , go radio. if there's chance of fixing this, i'd take it. thanks.
