Confused about home sharing and ATV after talking to a salesperson

i talking salesperson @ humac people store (closest thing apple store in finland) , told me , appletv cannot access itunes library if it's on external drive. not true right? mean if have computer , itunes running home sharing works no matter library is.

see no reason wouldn't case sure it. thanks!

 

if media in itunes library , itunes can find it, apple tv can play it.
