Clean install of iOS 5.1 WITHOUT restoring from a back up and Battery Life

hi there

i'm new updating ios software , im wondering how clean install without restoring up. want have 5.1 fresh ive opened box 4s. ive heard many issues in regards battery life using delta update thought fresh install battery life. i'll doing on 4s 5.0.1 , ipad 2 4.3.3 pre installed. thoughts on if affect battery life on either device?

connect phone/ipad , click restore in itunes. let business , once done choose "setup new iphone/ipad" on startup screen
