16 GB Memory in a MBP 5,1?

hello,

understanding 16 gb of memory not possible in mbp 5,1 (late 2008). why that? in advance.

 

the chipset doesn't allow it. i.e. it's intel's design prevents it, not apple's. macbook pros allow ones thunderbolt (feb. 2011 , newer).
