ok i'm torn between 2 machines, need constructive advice, pros & cons on both can weigh machine get. i'll using machine following:
ios app developement
photoshop
music editing / production
minor video editing
ibooks authoring
used @ home size & weight isn't critical factor.
i'm torn between 2.8ghz i7 mbp or 1.7ghz 128gb mba.
know there i7 mba budget around £1300 mark.
mbp
pros:
upgradable ram
optical drive
amount of hard disc space
faster processor
cons:
lower screen resolution
no ssd standard
mba
pros:
higher resolution screen
ssd hard disc
slim & compact
cons:
small amount of hard disc space
slower processor
no optical drive
have buy optical drive & external hard drive if went mba taking total close £1300 mark.
main points discussion reagarding mba are; 128gb enough space apps needed installed & run directly hard drive. if music/videos/photos on external hard drive surely negates point of having ssd. other point, mba fast enough want too?
main points discussion reagarding mbp are; screen resolution enough doing alot of app development & glossy screen going problem used predominantly inside.
final point discussion regarding both machines involves topic discussed on forums wide range of answers. should wait refresh? know no 1 knows refresh date, if we're talking 3 months, i'd rather wait, if it's 6 months wont bother. thinking maybe should wait ipad 3 announcement in late feb / march , see if announce ivy bridge enable macbooks. again boost in performance going noticeable? worth waiting for, needs? i'm in america in may, if there refresh around time pick 1 alot cheaper on there.
i'm leaning towards pro, higher resolution screen on air better development primary use.
decisions..... decisions...
ok think that's it, sorry long post wanted make sure covered everything, £1300 alot of money & want best bang buck.
just .02... edges on macbook pro bother wrist sharp unibody. thats why got air.
in end both terrific machines , sure happy either of them.
