hey everyone,
have been searching while decently cheap external enclosure 3 3.5" hard drives pulled pc when bought 27" imac. know says nas's way go, , quite leaning toward one, slight problem have rather expensive. other issue have prefer have these hard drives physically attached imac extension of computer.
these hdds range 1.5-3 tb drives , house of immense music, photo, , video library. use itunes , apple tv 2nd gen stream them throughout house, , part of itunes library, limit daisy chain effect as possible. not interested in jail breaking apple tv use plex or media streamer, way itunes , apple tv work way are, , don't want change that.
ideally, love have 3 bays hdds inside of imac can put them in, cannot happen. next best thing? there such thing thunderbolt external 4-bay hdd enclosure? or usb 2.0/firewire 800 1 work enough happy read/write capability of not streaming 2-3gb .m4v files it, converting 50+gb blu ray rips , encoding them myself using handbrake? , finally, should screw , go nas?
appreciated... really, really, keep under $200, if enough want entertain notion of going pricier.
this comes pretty close. i'm thinking picking 1 same reasons. it's usb3 , esata, might not happy speed when connected imac.

add thunderbolt expresscard slot, solve that, you're getting more expensive , more complicated. http://www.sonnettech.com/product/echoexpresscard34thunderbolt.html
