Streaming Video using TC

just got tc 2tb in today , set , far have question. old router linksys wrt54gs (bulletproof in opinion needed new router backup capability , apple products) , used stream movies laptop ps3. of time worked seamlessly. today tc backing imac , mbp (about 300gb of data together) , streaming video ps3 mbp via tc , video @ times lags. wondering fact i'm backing 2 computers, using internet, , streaming video off tc cause lag? i'm not quite sure how routers work in these kinds of aspects.
