Resolved Early 2009 MacBook can't install Windows 7 in Boot Camp!

i put new 500 gb hard drive in 2009 macbook, , cloned original drive onto new one. want make boot camp partition running windows 7 home premium. having troubles this!

tried using mac os x 10.7 lion's boot camp assistant, , made partition on main drive, when try boot cd, show "flashing question mark folder" icon (along "no" symbol). tried efi boot, says it's not system disk. tried refit, , boot disc, stuck on "windows loading files" part on black screen.
macbook's superdrive defective, using external firewire dvd burner.

there other steps need try? got advice?

not sure there on other threads not able load wins ext dvd.
perhaps if format bootcamp partition in ntfs clone wins system on might work
