Mac Display connections - DVI-I, DVI-D, DVI-A

i'm new mac , acquired macbook air presenting slides clients. travelling around, visiting clients - have old displays, brand new displays. connect macbook these various displays bigger view of presentation slides.

mini displayport vga (will cover lot of projectors , windows displays etc) - no problems here, need adapter.

mini displayport dvi - problem. according reviews on apple store adapter works dvi-d (which in turn present on newer displays). dvi need older mac display equipment? dvi-i or dvi-a?

to honest, have never seen display dvi-a. vga + dvi-d should enough.
