i have 4 year old lacie 2 big triple drive has been great 4 years. did replace 2 seagate drives came installed 2 1tb wd drives.
problem inside of lacie drive has begun fail , not helped fact 2010 mb sleeps drives when mb sleeps. fans , drives power down normal macs on past few years.
problem arises when wake mb , drive tries wake drives. maybe it's controller takes hour drives appear in finder again because of enclosure starting go bad. i've verified not drive placing other drives in there , problem still occurs.
when hook drive in black 2008 mb using firewire, problem not happen because mb not have ability sleep drives when computer sleeps.
there way can prevent enclosure sleeping when 2010 mb sleeps? sure can buy new enclosure not option yet.
help!
there option in energy save in system preferances 'pane' uncheck 'spin down drives when possible' button, , see if works, have absolutley no idea if will, worth shot.
