Disk Utility can't repair external hard drive

i using newest macbook air, mac os x 10.7.3.

external drive samsung m2 portable 3 media, 500gb.

might have accidentally disconnected hard drive without ejecting first. when run disk utility , click repair disk says: "disk utility can't repair disk. many of files possible, reformat disk, , restore backed-up files."

buying disk repair software diskwarrior isn't option me. there else can repair hard drive or recover data? know there 'restore disk' option, erase in destination drive. there way avoid this?

please help!! i'm freaking out. thank you!!

 

one solution copy data drive , reformat it. when message, can still read drive , copy it, not write it.
